Dean Dempsey is a contemporary artists currently living and working in San Francisco, CA. He earned his BFA at the San Francisco Art Institute, where he co-founded three campus groups and served on the Board of Trustees as the student representative. Engaging discourse concerning the politicization of personal and public histories, Dean has exhibited his photoworks at several national and international galleries in North America, Europe and Asia. Most recently, he was awarded 1st place for self-portraiture by the International Photography Awards in Los Angeles and En Foco's New Works Photography Awards #13 Fellowship in New York City. He has been included in various publications, most notably the 2009 Annual IPA Book, Visual Overture Magazine Volume II Fall 2010 and the San Francisco Bay Guardian (including a cover story). Dean is currently represented by the Togōnon Gallery in San Francisco, CA.
